MENDON EEE RISK LEVEL RAISED TO MODERATE

The Town of Mendon EEE Risk has just been updated from Low to Moderate.

Recommendations for EEE Prevention for Moderate Risk
1. Repair window screens
2. Wear mosquito repellent between dusk and dawn
3. Wear long sleeves and long pants from dusk to dawn
4. Use mosquito netting on baby carriages and playpens
5. Wear mosquito repellent when outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn
6. Avoid outside areas with obvious mosquito activity     

Alert Message:
The following cities and towns had EEE positive mosquito samples from a mammal biting species: Southbridge, Charlton, Wilbraham & Mendon. Based on these findings, the following cities and towns have been moved to moderate EEE risk level: East Longmeadow, Hampden, Ludlow, Monson, Palmer, Springfield, Wilbraham, Bellingham, Blackstone, Hopedale, Mendon, Millville & Upton. Additional recommended public health measures include raising awareness among residents, reminding residents to use mosquito repellents with an EPA-registered active ingredient and observing peak mosquito activity at dusk and dawn.
