E.L. Harvey will continue to provide curbside trash and recycling services to the Town of Mendon. The town has moved to Municipal Automation Services for all Trash and Recycling.  Automation means that all trash and recycling must be in totes capable of being emptied by the Truck’s mechanical arm. The driver controls this mechanical arm from inside the truck and the arm grabs the tote and empties it.  E.L. Harvey will provide and deliver to each Active Mendon Subscriber (1) 65-gallon GRAY TRASH tote and (1) 65-gallon BLUE LID RECYCLING tote.  These totes are the property of E.L. Harvey and will be maintained/replaced by E.L. Harvey.  These totes must be used for all collections. Click the video link to see how the process works. Split Automation Trash Truck Video

REASONS FOR NON-COLLECTION

  1. Non-Payment of Services
  2. Trash or recycle not at curbside by 7:00 a.m.
  3. Trash or recycling is not in an E.L. Harvey tote.
  4. Trash not bagged and is loose in tote.
  5. Recycling in plastic bags.
  6. Property Address is not an Active Subscriber.
  7. If any item is declared “unacceptable” by the driver, a non-compliance sticker will be placed on the item.  In such case, the resident must call E. L. Harvey for an explanation.

MISSED COLLECTION
EL Harvey will collect all active subscribers’ trash and recycling by 5:00 pm.  The Board of Health is not aware of a missed collection for active subscribers, so if you are an active subscriber and experienced a missed collection after 5:00 pm, contact E. L. Harvey directly at (800) 321-3002.  All trucks will have GPS and cameras so any missed collection can easily be identified.

Bulk item collection must be arranged ahead of time by calling E. L. Harvey and Sons, Inc. at 1-800-321-3002.  The fee for the collection of any bulk item is paid directly to E.L. Harvey.  Residents may also contact a private company for the removal of bulk items. For a Mattress, Box Spring, or Textiles - Please Click Here

HOLIDAYS
There are six (6) holidays that would delay curbside services by 1 day.

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, that day’s collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed by one day. Friday’s collections will be on Saturday. If any of these holidays fall on a weekend they will NOT be delayed.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
It can be difficult to predict how an impending storm will affect safety and road conditions for collection.  As soon as a delay has been determined, a notice will be placed on the town’s Board of Health Webpage along with a Trash Service Update Alert email to those who signed up.

During winter conditions, if your trash and recycling is already at curbside and collection has been delayed, bring it back in or away from the curb so snow plows will not cover it over or drive over it.

DELAYS
If there is a delay in collection due to inclement weather, that day’s collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed by one day. Friday’s collections will be on Saturday.
