Administrative Assistant - Conservation Commission
Part-time administrative support to the Conservation Commission. Position is responsible for initiating and responding to email and phone communications, working with the Conservation Commission Chair on building permit approvals, managing the MA DEP filing process, assists in running Conservation Commission meetings, generating meeting minutes, creating annual report, publishing legal ads and posting hearing notices, record keeping, and other duties as assigned.
High school graduation plus one to three years of experience in an office setting - clerical, administrative, secretarial, record keeping or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and attention to detail. Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity working with office equipment (copier, scanner). Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize workload and work independently required. Experience in a municipal setting and in dealing with the public strongly preferred.
Part-time position, up to 10 hours per week (approximately 8 hours of office time, 2 hours of meeting time). Salary range $18.64-24.50.

Outreach Coordinator/Administrative Assistant - Council on Aging
Position is responsible for assessing and facilitating connections to services and programs for elders who may be unserved or underserved. Conducts home and/or office visits to assist elders and disabled residents and their families to assess their needs. Makes appropriate referrals for services, provides health insurance counseling for clients under the SHINE program, maintains confidential, accurate records on clients and resources. May also assist in the coordination of monthly food pantry distribution and reviewing client’s eligibility and other duties as required.
Qualifications: BA/BS in Social Service or equivalent or 3 years of experience in gerontology, home care or related social service. Must possess knowledge of local, state and federal agencies such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid Insurance and SHINE. Sensitivity to the needs of elders and their families required. Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with the elderly of all ages and at all levels of society. Excellent organizational, listening, communication and customer service skills required. Must have ability to work independently and take initiative in helping resolve client issues. Ability to maintain confidentiality key. Requires proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel. MCOA Outreach Program Manager and/or SHINE certifications desired.
Part-time position, up to 18 hours per week. Salary range $18.64-24.59 per hour.

Part-Time Library Assistant - Taft Public Library
The Library Assistant will cover the adult and children’s circulation desk. Desk duties include checking materials in and out to patrons, answering questions from the public in-person and on the phone, assisting patrons with library resources and technology, troubleshooting patron computers, helping to maintain the circulating collection through shelving, shelf reading, and cleaning, setting up displays, and processing and cataloging library materials. Shifts at the children’s circulation desk may include assisting the Children’s Librarian in preparing for children’s programs.
Qualifications: High School diploma/equivalency with one to two years’ experience in clerical or library-related work required, college degree preferred. Successful candidate will have excellent customer-service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the public and other library staff. Candidate must exhibit attention to detail, be able to problem solve, and work independently. Excellent computer skills a necessity. Familiarity with CW MARS Evergreen software and our library catalog a plus. Knowledge of popular adult and children’s literature and media preferred.
Part-time position, 10 hours per week. Must be available Saturdays (9am-12pm); fill in coverage as needed. Salary range $16.50-17.00 per hour. Full time, 30 hours per week, flexible work hours onsite and remote. High level administrative position managing the Town’s financial functions. Reports to the Town Administrator and assists the Select Board with the Town’s financial goals. Performs technical accounting, financial and computerized functions in maintaining the fiscal records and systems of the town; administers all internal and external financial reporting requirements; and interprets and administers federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies relevant to municipal financial management.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or related field; ten years of progressively responsible experience in professional, finance field including supervisory and municipal experience; thorough knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance (UMAS) and budget management; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires ability to be bonded. If not certified by the Massachusetts Collector and Treasurers’ Association when hired, employee will be expected to pursue certification.
Full Time, flexible 30 hours. Salary range $62,000-$80,000 plus benefits.

Substitute Van Driver
The Town of Mendon will be accepting ongoing applications for Substitute Van Drivers for the Council on Aging. This periodic, part-time, fill-in position starts at a rate of $17.23 per hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma, a valid Mass. Driver’s license and a clean driving record. CPR certification and CORI check are also required. Prior experience with senior population, demonstrated effective social/interpersonal communication skills and ability to respect and maintain confidentiality are beneficial.
