Mendon Cultural Council Announces 2016 Grant Recipients

Local grants are awarded from a pool of funds distributed to Mendon by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency that supports public programs and educated activities in the arts, sciences, and humanities.  Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers.  Any Mendon resident interested in serving on the Mendon Cultural Council should submit an email to the Council at culturalcouncil@mendonma.gov.  You may also visit their Facebook page at Mendon MA Cultural Council.

State Senator Ryan Fattman, R., Webster, State Rep. John V. Fernandes, D. Milford, and the Mendon Cultural Council have announced the award of grants for cultural programming for the benefit of the residents of Mendon and surrounding towns.

“I am elated to see the Mendon Cultural Council awarded over twelve awards for fiscal year 2016, totaling over four thousand dollars. The Mendon Cultural Council, like all Massachusetts Cultural Councils, continue to inspire and educate the public each and every year,” said Sen. Fattman.

Applauding the Mendon Cultural Council for its awards, Rep. Fernandes stated, ““I applaud the Mendon Cultural Council board members for their outstanding selection of award recipients for this year’s cultural grants. With these timely grant awards, the recipients will provide a host of reading programs, musical entertainment, concerts, plays and art classes. Many people from across the community and all age groups, who may not normally be able to experience these events, will now directly enjoy these wonderful cultural offerings year round. I am proud to be part of a legislature that consistently supports these grants, as the cultural programs educate, entertain and enrich us. I have definitely enjoyed them and commend everyone involved.”
