Animal Inspector

The Mendon Board of Health is seeking applications for the position of Animal Inspector.  This is a limited part time position on as "as needed" bases, 7 days a week.  The applicant must be knowledgeable in the handling of domestic animals, wildlife, farm animals, animal disease, rabies and barn inspections.  Please send resumes to the Mendon Board of Health, 20 Main Street, Mendon, MA 01756 boh@mendonma.gov by 5 00 p.m. June 4, 2013.

The board is run by three elected members.  They are elected by the towns residents annually for a three year term.  They have various responsibilities such as

  • Inspecting food establishments.
  • Conducting tobacco compliance checks
  • Enforcement of Title V of the State Environmental Code including examine sites, witness perc testing, issues certificates of compliances and review and approve septic plans.
  • Overseeing of the Towns trash and recycling program
  • Receive and responds to complaints regarding housing, sanitary sewage disposal, hazardous materials/waste and solid waste, air quality noises and nuisances.
  • Review and enforce the board private well regulations.
  • Issues varies license and permits.

The Board meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the lower town hall.
